Safeties Tony Jefferson, D.J. Swearinger thank Cardinals on way out

The Arizona Cardinals’ defensive back room will look very different in 2017.

On the first day of the NFL free agency signing period, safeties Tony Jefferson and D.J. Swearinger agreed to deals with the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Redskins, respectively. Each used their social media accounts to thank the Cardinals and their fans for the support over the past year-plus.

Jefferson, who had 96 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles last season, thanked Arizona general manager Steve Keim and head coach Bruce Arians, not to mention all of his teammates through his four seasons with the Cardinals.

He wrapped the message with a “shout out to Los Favoritos for the Bomb Mexican food.”

Swearinger, who Arizona picked up in 2015 during the middle of the year, thanked the Cardinals for giving him a third chance.

He took advantage of it last season, piling up 58 tackles, two sacks and three picks as one of the steadier players on the team.
