Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is giving back to his hometown of York, Pennsylvania by ushering in the York City Parks Conservancy.

An endowment campaign will be opened by the conservancy organization in 2018 to benefit York’s 25 green spaces and parks.

Arians started off the $3 million fundraising effort with a $100,000 donation and will serve as the honorary chair of the conservancy.

“It’s a pleasure to be a part of this initiative,” Arians said in a USA Today article. “We’re going to try to raise as much money and blow that $3 million thing away.”

The chairman of the Conservancy’s capital campaign, Tony Campisi, said the conservancy has been in the making for about three years.

“We’re leading in York by taking the initiative to establish this conservancy,” Campisi said. “Which will be a mechanism for fundraising and endowing our city with funding on an ongoing, annual basis.”

Arians worked with York City Mayor Kim Bracey in April as she traveled to Arizona with other local officials to establish the program.
