“Despacito” has become the hit summer song of 2017, setting the record for the most streamed song of all time.
So, of course the D-backs wanted to get in on the fun, taking their shot at the Justin Bieber remix of the bilingual hit.
Archie Bradley starts off the party and does a pretty solid job during his solo act, right up until until the Spanish part of the song comes on.
Instead of taking a stab at it, he does a total 180, and just starts talking in the same theme and tune of the song, making fun of himself, Justin Bieber’s lack of Spanish and the grief he’s going to get from his teammates.
To take over for Bradley’s inability to speak Spanish, on the screen comes many of the D-backs Latin players including David Peralta, Gregor Blanco, Rubby De La Rosa, Ketel Marte and Fernando Rodney.
De La Rosa is the real star of this karaoke party. You can definitely tell he’s accounted for a few of the over 2.8 billion views the song has on Youtube.
He carries the load when it comes to the singing, making up for Blanco, Rodney and Marte just mouthing most of the words that aren’t “Despacito.”
The other thing the video shows off is the unique, custom shirts that the some of the players have made. De La Rosa is sporting a “bring in the beard” Bradley shirt and Peralta is wearing a “Mr. Organic” shirt with a picture of his bullpen mate Randall Delgado.
The D-backs have shown their energetic personality on the field by putting up a 58-43 record thus far, and this video shows a glimpse of the fun they have together off the field.
