The Arizona Cardinals signed fifth-year cornerback Marcus Williams to a one-year contract on Thursday.

Williams spent his 2017 season playing for both the New York Jets (five games) and Houston Texans (10 games), where he tallied a combined 18 tackles, one interception and four passes defensed. The 5-foot-11, 196-pound player out of North Dakota State spent his first three full seasons will the Jets.

He has 49 games of experience under his belt, 14 of which were starts.

The 27-year-old has 10 interceptions, 20 passes defensed and 107 tackles along with 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in his career.

Williams joins a Cardinals cornerback room of relative unknowns. After Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson, Brandon Williams, Lou Young, Jarell Carter, Jonathan Moxey and Bene Benwikere fill out the the depth chart.

This offseason, Arizona lost cornerback Justin Bethel, who began last season as the starter opposite Peterson, as well as his replacement, Tramon Williams.

As a special teams player, Bethel made the Pro Bowl three times and was a two-time First Team All-Pro in his Cardinals tenure that spanned 2012-17. The 27-year-old signed with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency.

Williams, 35, was a late offseason pickup last year who played in 13 games for Arizona, recording 41 tackles and two interceptions. He signed with the Green Bay Packers.
