Arizona Cardinals stars Larry Fitzgerald and David Johnson both sat during the first drive of the preseason game against the Cowboys.
It appears they won’t play in the game.
They have both played very limited time in the first two preseason games. Running back David Johnson had two consecutive carries of 14 yards in the preseason opener before being benched, and then rushed the ball six times last week against the Saints.
Rookie Chase Edmonds got the start at running back in his place.
Fitzgerald has one catch for six yards this preseason.
With Fitzgerald riding the bench, the other receivers will have an opportunity to establish themselves as targets for quarterback Sam Bradford.
While wide receivers Chad Williams and Christian Kirk played well against the Saints, there has yet to be a clear No. 2 receiver on the team.
