After releasing defensive tackle Garrison Smith on Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals have signed linebacker Joe Walker from the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad.
Walker was taken in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Eagles. He suffered a season-ending ACL injury during the team’s final preseason game of 2016.
In 2017, Walker played in 12 games, starting three. He had 10 tackles and a pass defensed. He was also used on special teams.
The Cardinals worked out four other linebackers on Tuesday, reports NFL reporter Adam Caplan. Hayes Pullard, Zaire Anderson, Kennan Gilchrist and Nigel Harris tried out for the team before Arizona signed Harris to the practice squad Tuesday.
In addition to the Walker signing, the Cardinals are bringing in wide receiver Kendall Wright for a workout on Wednesday, 98.7 FM Arizona’s Sports Station’s John Gambadoro reports. In order to sign the wideout, the team would need to trim down the roster.
The Cardinals also added running back Jalen Simmons to the practice squad after Elijiah Penny was added to the New York Giants 53-man roster on Tuesday.
