The Jackson Generals’ ‘Simba Cam’ might be the best thing ever

Jumbotron antics are as much a staple of any sporting event as popcorn and hot dogs. Variations of the “Kiss Cam”, the “Flex Cam” and the “Dance Cam” have entertained crowds for years, but the phenomenon that is taking place in Jackson, Tennessee could revolutionize the world of jumbotron entertainment.

Debuting this past Thursday, the Jackson Generals — a Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners — introduced the “Simba Cam”, an original spin-off of more traditional crowd cams featuring parents lifting their kids (and in some cases, friends lifting their friends) into the air a la Rafiki and Simba in the Disney animated film The Lion King.

While the video above may not invoke the majesty of perhaps the film’s most signature moment, it most definitely inspires copy cat potential in stadiums and arenas across the country.
