After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for April 21, 2011:
Reds 7, Diamondbacks 4
The Good:
The Diamondbacks offense wasn’t short on power Thursday. Both shortstop Stephen Drew and second baseman Kelly Johnson went yard for the Snakes. The D-backs now have the sixth most home runs in Major League Baseball this season at 21.
The Bad:
After winning the first two games of the series the D-backs had climbed back to .500 for the year. The loss Thursday means they drop to 8-9 and missed an opportunity to get their first series sweep since a three game sweep of the Colorado Rockies at the end of last September.
The Funky:
Starting pitcher Daniel Hudson gave up four runs in the first inning. He has now given up two or more runs in the opening frame of his last three starts.
