After every Arizona Diamondbacks game we’ll examine the
box score and provide you with instant analysis. So it’s
time to go Inside the Box for June 4, 2011: Diamondbacks 2, Nationals 0
The Good:
It was all Joe Saunders on Saturday at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks starter may have struggled recently, but he threw a beauty. The Nationals only scraped two hits off of Saunders through seven innings. Saunders walked just two and struck out five.
The Bad:
The D-backs did not bring their bats, despite winning. Five of the D-backs who started the game did not get a hit. Ryan Roberts, Gerardo Parra and Joe Saunders did not make the trip to first the entire game. To his credit, Nationals starter Livan Hernandez threw a decent game as well.
The Funky:
The D-backs have thrown 18 consecutive scoreless innings over the last two games against the Nationals.
