Kirk Gibson impressed with Patrick Corbin

Trevor Bauer gets much of the attention, but Diamondbacks
manager Kirk Gibson has been just as impressed with
another pitching prospect: Patrick Corbin.

“I think he can have a huge impact on our season,” Gibson
said.

Both Bauer and Corbin are scheduled to pitch Tuesday
against the Giants. Gibson said the plan is for Bauer to
pitch four innings, then use Takashi Saito for an inning
followed by Corbin for innings 6-7-8-9. “That would be a
good day,” said Gibson. “It would be perfect.”

Other news

Gibson said Rusty Ryal (left hamstring) is “improving
quickly.”

Gibson is not near a decision on setting his rotation,
“We’ve got time.”

Gibson has been giving guys complete days off before the
grind of the upcoming season; though some will still come
in to workout, “then they’re welcome to go home if they’d
like to”
