Getting the night off, A.J. Pollock ended up with an at-bat and made the most of it.

Pollock came off the bench and delivered a huge two-run homer in the eighth inning in what would be the difference in the Diamondbacks’ 4-2 win over the Marlins.

The home run broke a 2-2 tie and the Diamondbacks bullpen did the rest.

After starting pitchers Jeremy Hellickson and Tom Koehler kept the game scoreless through three innings, the D-backs got on the board.

The D-backs recorded the first runs of the game in the top of the fourth, on two balls that didn’t leave the infield. An error scored David Peralta then Nick Ahmed followed with an RBI bunt single.

Daniel Hudson took care of the seventh and eighth innings to take the D-backs to the ninth with a 4-2 advantage.

Enrique Burgos earned his second career save after striking out Michael Morse with two men on base. It was Burgos’ second career save; his first came Monday night in the series-opening win over Miami.

Here’s a look at the D-backs’ 17th win of the season, by the numbers.

2

Pollock’s pinch-hit home run was the second of his career. The first came April 12 of last season, when he hit a solo shot off of Los Angeles’ Zack Greinke in the fifth inning of an 8-5 loss to the Dodgers.

3

Jeremy Hellickson in three career starts vs. Marlins, has led team to three wins. He went six innings, giving up two runs on four hits.

4

Ahmed had two hits, including an RBI in the win. This was his fourth multi-hit game of the season. Ahmed is now batting .181 — the highest his average has been since April 16 when it was .192 following a two-hit game in a 7-6 win over the Giants.

4

D-backs third baseman Yasmany Tomás continued his hitting streak. He has now hit in four straight games and five of the last six road games.

7

D-backs outfielder Ender Inciarte has registered a hit in seven of his last nine road games. Over that span, Enciarte is hitting .309 (14-for-45).

500

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt appeared in his 500th career game, all with the D-backs. He is the 17th player to reach the 500-game mark in team history.
