This is one of many preseason accolades for Scooby Wright.

Wright is one of five Pac-12 players to make ESPN’s preseason All-American team.

ESPN.com had high praise for Wright:

He’s the nation’s ultimate defensive statistical machine. Wright was the only player in the country to average more than 2 tackles for loss per game (29 total). He also led the way with 163 tackles and 6 forced fumbles.

The reigning Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year makes up the linebacker trio of the team with USC’s Su’a Cravens and Notre Dame’s Jaylon Smith.

Cravens and Wright join USC center Max Tuerk, Utah punter Tom Hackett, and USC returner Adoree’ Jackson as the five Pac-12 players to make the team.

The Arizona star had a breakout season in 2014, winning the Nagurski trophy, the Lombardi award, and the Bednarik award. He had 163 total tackles, 14 sacks, and six forced fumbles.

ESPN.com had big compliments for the other Pac-12 team members as well. They called Cravens “the Pac-12’s most versatile defender” and Tuerk “one of the most versatile linemen in the country.”

Arizona debuted at No. 22 in the AP poll on Sunday, trailing five other teams in the Pac-12. No. 7 Oregon, No. 13 UCLA, No. 15 Arizona State, and No. 21 Stanford did not have a player make the list.

USC’s three players to make the team trails only Ohio State’s four for the most players to make the team.
