Peter O’Brien gets the call, Diamondbacks make 7 roster moves

As September call-ups continue, the Arizona Diamondbacks made seven roster moves on Tuesday.

Highlighting the transactions is the highly anticipated call-up of outfielder Peter O’Brien.

A second-round pick by the New York Yankees in 2012, Arizona received O’Brien from the Yankees for Martin Prado in 2014. O’Brien spent the 2015 season with the Reno Aces (AAA) where he had an average of .284 through 131 games with 26 home runs, 35 doubles and nine triples.

But O’Brien wasn’t the only Diamondbacks outfielder to get the call.

Also receiving the call to the majors for the first time is Socrates Brito.

Brito signed with the Diamondbacks as an international free agent in 2010. Brito spent the entirety of the 2015 season with the Mobile BayBears (AA) where he hit for an average of .300 through 129 games with 20 stolen bases and 15 triples.

O’Brien and Brito both rank in the organization’s top 30 prospects with O’Brien coming in at 9 and Brito ranking 15.

Other roster moves by the Diamondbacks on Tuesday include recalling pitchers Jhoulys Chacin, Andrew Chafin and Allen Webster as well as infielder/outfielder Jamie Romak.

Evan Marshall was also recalled from Triple-A and placed on the 60-day disabled list.
