Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald break franchise records against Seattle

Not much went right in the first half for the Arizona Cardinals against the Seattle Seahawks, but Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald added to their Cardinals legacy with two new franchise records.
Palmer passed Neil Lomax’s 4,614 yards from the 1984 season for the St. Louis Cardinals to set the record for most passing yards in a season in franchise history. Palmer was fourth on the list from his performance in 2013, when he threw for 4,274 yards. Kurt Warner has two spots in the top five from his 2008 and 2009 seasons.
Palmer jumped ahead of Lomax on a six-yard pass to David Johnson in the second quarter. He also reached 40,000 career passing yards.
Fitzgerald beat his own record from 2005 when he had 103 receptions in a season, catching his 104th pass of the season on the first play of the game for 15 yards. He also extended his streak of having at least one catch in a game, with the number of games now at 179. That’s the NFL’s longest current streak and is already a franchise record.
Fizgerald’s 106th catch of the season was a 17-yard touchdown catch that was the lone touchdown of the half for Arizona. His former teammate Anquan Boldin reached the 100-catch mark twice in his career (2003 and 2005).
The Cardinals as a team also set the franchise record for total net yards in a season, with the previous high coming in Lomax’s 1984 season when the Cardinals had 6,354 total net yards.
