The first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings are out and the Arizona Wildcats made the cut of the top-25.

Rich Rodriguez’s team ranks No. 22 on the list, representing the Pac-12 along with No. 25 Washington State, No. 21 Stanford, No. 17 USC and No. 12 Washington.

Arizona was ranked in the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll for the first time this season, checking in at No. 23 in the AP and No. 25 in the Coaches.

The Wildcats are coming off an impressive 58-37 win over then-No. 15 Washington State.

Sophomore quarterback Khalil Tate has brought forward momentum to the program with his dual-threat play earning him some Heisman consideration. Through the six games he has played in, including three starts, Tate has thrown for 784 yards and six touchdowns while also rushing for 926 yards and eight touchdowns.

Arizona has a real test up next to maintain their climb up the polls, as they visit the Trojans.
