In their first game for the regular season, the Arizona State Sun Devils will be without not one, but two of their key players.

According to the Devils’ Digest and The Athletics’s Doug Haller, both forwards Romello White and Taeshon Cherry will not play against Colorado in China on Friday night for violating team rules.

They originally entered Friday with a to-be-determined status.

It’s certainly not the way the Sun Devils wanted to open up the new season as White and Cherry figure to be important pieces for ASU this year.

White enters the 2019-20 season after averaging 8.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 25 minutes just a year prior.

Cherry, who missed some time due to injury, dropped 5.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and shot 34.5% from beyond the arc.

With both out in a nonconference game, head coach Bobby Hurley could go with younger options, including freshman forward Jalen Graham, to fill the voids left behind.
