Arizona basketball head coach Sean Miller said Tuesday that Devonaire Doutrive could play in the team’s next game.

Doutrive, a sophomore guard, has been suspended but has been practicing with the team.

“Devonaire’s really in the same place,” Miller said in a press conference on Tuesday. “We’ll know more over the next couple of days. There is a chance that he could play against San Jose State.

“I’m not going to commit to that right now. But I think that there’s a chance that he could. There’s also a chance that we could be in the same place as we approach gameday. So I’ll know more over the next couple days.”

The San Jose State game is on Thursday, giving the team two more days to sort out the matter. That game is in Tucson, and tipoff is at 6 p.m.

If Doutrive doesn’t go Thursday, the next game is on Sunday against New Mexico State.

Doutrive was a four-star prospect coming out of high school, according to 247Sports. He played 26 games his freshman year, shooting 45.6% overall and 9-for-20 from beyond the arc.

This summer, Doutrive walked-back plans to transfer from UA and apologized on Twitter, clarifying that he would not be transferring despite having entered the transfer portal.
