Arizona State junior point guard Remy Martin has been a menace on the road and earned some credit with his second Pac-12 Player of the Week Award this season.
Martin has led the Sun Devils to three-straight road wins in Pac-12 play and the team’s first five-game win streak in conference since James Harden was a sophomore.
Last week on the road in Northern California, Martin torched Stanford for 24 points and put in 22 against Cal. Martin was an efficient 16-of-24 from the field, 5-of-6 from 3-point range and made 9-of-10 free throws in the two games leading ASU to wins in both.
The successful weekend trip earned ASU its first vote this season in the AP Poll Top 25 and has the Sun Devils just one game behind Oregon and Colorado atop the Pac-12 standings.
Arizona freshman Zeke Nnaji was also awarded Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for his performances against Cal and Stanford.
Nnaji tallied 21 points in both Thursday’s win over Cal and Saturday’s win over Stanford. Saturday’s stat line marked the sixth double-double in eight games for the freshman as he pulled down 11 boards. He has 12 double-doubles on the season.
This was Nnaji’s fourth Freshman of the Week Award.
Arizona is tied for third with ASU in conference play as both teams sit at 8-4. The Wildcats pulled back into the AP Poll Top 25 at No. 24 following the sweep in Silicon Valley.
