The Arizona Cardinals placed center Rodney Hudson on injured reserve Saturday among several roster moves.

Hudson has a ribs and shoulder injury after he went down during last week’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The veteran was a major acquisition for the Cardinals during the offseason, and he has been a tremendous boost to the offense. He helps quarterback Kyler Murray identify defensive coverages and can still block well.

Max Garcia will start in his place for at least three games.

The Cardinals also activated defensive tackle Jordan Phillips and offensive tackle Joshua Miles from the injured reserve/designated for return list.

Phillips went on IR with a back injury in early September, ahead of Week 1. He signed a three-year deal with the Cardinals in 2020, but he has dealt with multiple injuries since.

Miles was placed on reserve Sept. 25 with an ankle injury.

The Cardinals elevated tight end Ross Travis, linebacker Joe Walker and offensive lineman Danny Isidora from the practice squad.

Walker and Isidora are COVID-19 replacements, while Travis is a standard elevation.

The Cardinals won’t have edge rusher Chandler Jones or Zach Allen due to positive COVID-19 tests this week against the Cleveland Browns. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury also tested positive and won’t be with the team this Sunday.

Walker signed with the Cardinals this week, but he played regularly for Arizona in 2019.

The Cardinals did not elevate a cornerback, which is telling because starters Byron Murphy Jr. and Marco Wilson are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game. Since Arizona is not adding depth from the practice squad at that position, it may be prepared for one or both starters to return.

Arizona traded for former Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz on Friday, but he will not play this Sunday.
