The San Diego Chargers have reportedly signed an undrafted rookie from Arizona State — perhaps not the one you were thinking of.

While quarterback Mike Bercovici earned his way into Chargers rookie mini-camp this weekend, it was guard Vi Teofilo who earned a contract with the team thanks to his performance during the three-day tryout, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Michael Gehlken.

Heading into the 2016 NFL Draft, the interior lineman impressed at his pro day by throwing up the bench press 43 times, which would have set an NFL Combine best for 2016; teammate Christian Westerman paced the field at the combine with a high of 34 repetitions.

Now Teofilo will be fighting for a backup spot to protect veteran quarterback Philip Rivers.

Teofilo isn’t the only former Sun Devil fighting for a roster spot and doing well at it over the last week.

Cornerback Lloyd Carrington stood out for Washington during its mini-camp, reports Breaking Burgundy.

LONGINO INDICTED

Former ASU linebacker Antonio Longino, who reportedly was set to join the Cincinnati Bengals in camp, was indicted Sunday following his arrest on charges of tampering with evidence in a murder case.

Cleveland.com reports the 23-year-old from East Cleveland is scheduled to be arraigned on May 27 at Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Detectives have not released specifics about the charge related to a shooting outside of an Ohio bar, and Longino’s defense attorney told Cleveland.com that police “haven’t offered any additional evidence because there is none.”

Longino was arrested May 4 and never joined the Bengals for camp afterward.
