Former Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner not surprised by Hall of Fame snub

LISTEN: Kurt Warner, former Cardinals quarterback

Kurt Warner went unselected in the 1994 NFL Draft and was cut by the Green Bay Packers before the season began. He played for the Iowa Barnstormers of the Arena Football League from 1995-97 and didn’t play in his first NFL regular-season game until 1998.

Fast-forward to 2009. Warner ended his NFL career with three Super Bowl appearances, including a world championship and Super Bowl MVP award in 2000 with the St. Louis Rams. He was a two-time NFL regular-season MVP, a four-time Pro Bowl selection and the first quarterback to lead the Arizona Cardinals to the Super Bowl.

Warner’s outstanding NFL career is, without question, among the most improbable in league history — but on Saturday, it wasn’t enough to merit a Pro Football Hall of Fame selection, as voters picked eight other men ahead of him for the 2015 class.
