The Arizona Cardinals would like to add some pass rushing help this offseason, and they may turn their attention to the nation’s capitol to find it.
According to ESPN.com’s John Keim, the team is “pushing hard for linebacker Brian Orakpo.
If Indianapolis was in the mix, then the field has narrowed as the Colts reportedly will sign linebacker Trent Cole. At one point Monday it seemed like it was a three-team race between the Cards, Redskins and Colts. I don’t know if another team is, or will be, involved.
There’s also this:
The teams in the mix for Brian Orakpo are the #Titans, #Redskins and #Cardinals. AZ is the one to watch, they want an edge presence

Linebacker Brian Orakpo will visit Tennessee as @RapSheet reported. He will then visit Arizona per source. #Cardinals

Orakpo, who will be 29 when the 2015 regular season begins, is coming off a season that saw him appear in just seven games due to a torn right pectoral muscle, in which he tallied 24 total tackles and 0.5 sacks. It was the third time he had torn a pectoral muscle in his NFL career, having also done so at the end of the 2011 season and two games into the 2012 campaign.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection — including as recently as 2013 — he has career totals of 256 tackles and 40 sacks along with three fumble recoveries and one interception.
He also has a series of GEICO commercials that, well, we’re not sure if you should spend your time watching.
