Now Trending, Sept. 19: Hockey is back, but is Texas football back?

Each week, we’ll take you through the week in sports as told by the users of Twitter and other social media platforms. From the funny to the dramatic, from the outlandish to the bizarre, this is Now Trending.
It’s getting to be that time of year where a ton of sports are in season at the same time, and it’s awesome. Football is back, hockey is back, basketball is on its way, and Texas football is… back? Not back?
Texas:

🔘 Not back— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) September 17, 2017
Nobody is really sure. @RedditCFB changed their vote on this one all throughout the game while Texas played a thriller at USC (spoiler: USC won in double OT). Regardless of how you feel about Texas, we know this much: Matthew McConaughey is all-in on the Longhorns.

You would think a guy that starred in a movie called “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” would have been at a Florida game, and then the Gators’ laundry list of suspended players could appear in a sequel called “How to Lose 10 Guys in a Day.”
Speaking of guys, the NHL’s newest team is really pushing the envelope with its social media, and they had no respect for the Vancouver Canucks when they tweeted out their lineup this weekend before a preseason tilt:
Canucks Lines
Guy-Guy-Guy
Guy-Guy-Guy
Guy-Guy-Guy
Guy-Guy-GuyGuy-Guy

The Golden Knights ended up winning by a whopping score of 9-4, but hey, give some credit to Vancouver. They’ve got a good group of guys over there.
And since we’re on the subject of teams that nobody is sure what to make of, the Houston Texans’ rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson was the butt of a joke this weekend, to which he quickly responded. Here was the original jab:

And here’s Watson:

That’s how you silence the haters, which is an art that Kevin Durant still has yet to master. There was speculation on Monday that K.D. is using a fake twitter account to defend himself against the critics on Twitter, since he was caught referring to himself in the third person on his own account.
KD has secret accounts that he uses to defend himself and forgot to switch to them when he was replying to this guy I'm actually speechless pic.twitter.com/9245gnpa3c

In other news, the Oakland Athletics — who won 20 consecutive games in 2002 — tried to poke fun at a Cleveland Indians winning streak last year. But this year, the Tribe actually surpassed Oakland’s historic winning streak..
“Cute winning streak, @Indians.”

Ouch.
Let’s head north of the border to catch you up on the Calgary Flames, the NHL team who are reportedly no longer pursuing a new arena because negotiations with the city “have been unproductive.”
The Edmonton Oilers recently moved into a new arena, so one Twitter user suggested that the Oilers just give their old arena to the Flames:
