Anyone who collects memorabilia knows how hard it can be to get certain individuals to sign.

Just ask Colorado Rockies reliever Pat Neshek.

A few weeks ago, while the Rockies were set to face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Neshek saw the opportunity to cross a name off his memorabilia list when he noticed D-backs starting pitcher Zack Greinke.

Having already spoken to Greinke about signing his baseball cards at this year’s All-Star Game, Neshek went up to Greinke thinking it would be an easy task.

Well it looks like things didn’t go too well after seeing his comments about the exchange on the memorabilia site Sports Collectors.

Thanks guys, Greinke stiffed me again. I asked him at the all star game if he would sign for me and he said he would…sooo a couple weeks ago we played them and I sent over the cards I needed signed…basically three league leaders cards with kershaw and wainwright already done and 2 from 2015 to complete the set. he said no…I waited around for him during batting practice and went up to him and he totally denied having the conversation at the all star game…I then asked him why this was a problem and he said it’s because ‘I wear him out.’ Hard to wear someone out when he has never signed for me…This is the only (explecit) in major league baseball that has been a turd to me. So going back to the conversation I said can you just get these done it will take 5 seconds…just draw a z on them for me…he said no I will never sign for you…I walked away….a couple minutes later I confronted him in the outfield while he was jogging and told him what I though of him…he just kept on running then said I wouldn’t even sign for your kid if he asked…I then let him know what I thought of him again and being the socially awkward guy he is ran back to his dugout and went inside. Soooo I’m done with this guy, I’m basically gonna have to trade with someone on here to 50/50 them down the road.

This, apparently, wasn’t the first time a D-backs’ ace has refused another player either, according to Neshek.

Yeah back in the day Randy Johnson stiffed a couple guys… well Livan Hernandez and he went nuts… cut up the johnson jersey and went on a tirade at Randy about how they were teammates and you should always sign… Randy ended up signing for our team after that. Piazza was kind of a pain as well but he eventually signed. I’ve never seen anything like Greinke… to me it feels like total narcissism. He’s stiffed Ziegler just as bad as me and they were teammates… He’s stiffed pretty much every clubhouse attendant in the league… clubhouse kids, batboys, clubhouse managers… ask anyone of them and they will just shake their head at his name. I really don’t care and will respect someone for saying no… that’s fine I will find another way to get them done but when I asked him face to face and he said he would then denies that a conversation happened then we have a problem.

Depending on how things shake out in the National League Wild Card Race, Neshek could have another chance at trying to win over Greinke, but it seems highly unlikely.
