Larry Fitzgerald rips pass away from Cowboys DB for first down

Go with what works.

On a 3rd-and-18 with a touchdown deficit against the Dallas Cowboys in an eventual 28-17 loss on Monday night, what the Arizona Cardinals felt confident about was Carson Palmer giving Larry Fitzgerald a chance at making a play.

And Fitzgerald, as it’s become standard, will make the play. Heading toward the sideline, the 34-year-old receiver streaked in front of cornerback Orlando Scandrick and lept, ripping the 50-50 ball away before bobbling and making the catch as he fell to the ground for a 24-yard reception.

The play came in the heart of a 16-play, 56-yard drive that ended with a Phil Dawson 37-yard field goal that pulled Arizona within 21-17 of Dallas with 6:40 to play.

After what was the 11th catch of the evening, Fitzgerald had tallied 122 yards and a touchdown — the score of 15 yards came after Palmer previously connected with Fitzgerald on a 37-yard, jump ball strike over Scandrick in the third quarter.

Earlier in the night, Fitzgerald had recorded a sixth-catch first quarter, a career-best, and passed former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison (14,580 yards) to take eighth place on the all-time receiving yardage list.

Fitzgerald finished by tying a career-high with 13 catches for 149 yards in the loss.

Here’s another angle of Fitzgerald’s skillful grab.
