Kevin Kolb, Ken Whisenhunt differ on QB’s evaluation

Cardinals Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt and quarterback Kevin Kolb both had their media briefings after practice Wednesday, but they had two different stories to tell.

Kolb said the film of Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks was tough to watch.

“You know you want to keep moving forward, you don’t ever want to take a step back and that game I probably took a step back,” Kolb said. “We didn’t execute. You don’t want to turn it over. Know the situation, slow your mind down. It’s part of growing in this league and I’ll get a lot better at that.”

Kolb’s numbers in the Cardinals three games this season have been relatively similar, except the turnovers. He had more interceptions than touchdowns last week, including a costly one near the end of the game.

Whisenhunt doesn’t seem as worried as Kolb.

“I don’t have any question about Kevin continuing to improve at that position and doing a great job for us,” the coach said. “You can see that on the practice field.”

As far as Kolb taking a step back this past week, Whisenhunt didn’t seem to agree with that either.

“If you talk about a step back it’s only from expectations,” Whisenhunt said. “Kevin didn’t play his best game but that happens. That position is tough. I don’t think that there’s any bouncing back to do.”

The Cardinals are at home hosting the Giants this weekend. We’ll see firsthand if Kolb, Whisenhunt and the rest of the team bounce back from their two straight losses.
