The move for White to Memphis will be a reunion with former Sun Devils offensive coordinator and current Memphis head coach Mike Norvell, who recruited White.
White, a unanimous four-star recruit, was the highest rated quarterback signee by the Sun Devils in the era of internet recruiting rankings.
After redshirting in 2015, White made two appearances as a freshman, filling in for injured starter Manny Wilkins. White was 6-of-13 for one touchdown in that game at USC and would start the next week against UCLA, going 19-of-36 for 179 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He would miss the rest of the season due to a right foot injury.
Proud of you @BradyWhite223 , although the path of your journey is changing you will always be a brother of mine. I will cherish the moments we’ve shared together forever. White did not play this season, serving as the third-string QB behind Wilkins and Blake Barnett.
His transfer marks two straight years an ASU quarterback has transferred, following Bryce Perkins’ move to junior college Arizona Western last offseason.
Memphis will lose starting quarterback Riley Ferguson to graduation, giving White an opportunity to win the starting job.
