Iowa must feel better about their first-round NCAA game

In case you hadn’t heard, the NCAA Tournament starts this week.
In a second-round (still don’t like that first-round games are now second-round games, NCAA) matchup in the South region, 7th-seeded Iowa will take on the 10th-seeded Davidson Wildcats in Seattle Friday.
The Hawkeyes, out of the Big Ten, are a two-point favorite heading into the game over Davidson, but needed reassurance about the game, apparently. The Iowa Twitter account reached out to Davidson to make sure a certain high-scoring point guard wouldn’t be in uniform.

Then, Curry’s current employer, the Golden State Warriors chimed in to confirm that the All-Star guard has indeed exhausted his eligiblity. Sometimes one wink emoticon can go a long way.

Curry led the Wildcats to back-to-back appearances in the Big Dance in 2007 and 2008. The second trip was a memorable one as Davidson won three games before falling to Kansas 59-57 in the Midwest Regional Final.
This year’s Davidson team comes in with a 24-7 record, so maybe Iowa shouldn’t feel confident after all.
Curry, meanwhile, has emerged as a leading candidate for the NBA Most Valuable Player Award while leading the Warriors to the best record in basketball.
