Newly-signed Arizona Cardinals quarterback Sam Bradford’s contract is for $40 million, with $15 million guaranteed in 2018 and a team option in 2019, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The contract includes a no-trade clause.

The Cardinals took Bradford’s lengthy history of injuries into account by offering a $312,500 incentive per game he is active in 2018, which could earn him up to $5 million extra. The quarterback has only played 80 of 128 games in his career.

He has torn his left ACL twice and hurt the same knee again in a non-ACL injury last year. He played only a game and a half in 2017.

Healthy in 2016, Bradford led the league with a 71.6 percent completion rate and threw for 3,877 yards, 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. Last year, he completed 32 of his 43 passes, 74.4 percent.

The team will take a cap hit of $10.6 million this season, according to Over The Cap.

The Cardinals will have to make a decision on Bradford’s future after 2018.  The team has a $7.5 million option for the quarterback’s services in 2019 with a $10 million bonus if he’s on the roster the third day of the 2019 league year. He will be paid an additional $156,625 per game he is active that season, which could reach up to $2.5 million with incentives.

Bradford could make that decision easy if he doesn’t stay healthy. But if he can replicate his stellar 2016 numbers and the Cardinals don’t think they have a viable backup plan, they will have to choose a path.

If Bradford leads the team to a Super Bowl victory, he will be owed an extra $1 million.
