New York fan scores first points of the Knicks season

The New York Knicks.

After finishing near the bottom of the barrel in the NBA in 2017-18 (29-53), the Knicks looked to be off to a similar start Wednesday night.

With 8:03 left in the first quarter against the Atlanta Hawks, the “new-look” Knicks offense looked about the same as last season’s. The team started 0-for-9 from the field — only making two free throws — and you could see the small glimmer of hope for a winning season already leaving Madison Square Garden.

That was until a Knicks fan decided to step up to bring the crowd back in it.

He may have missed the three-pointer, but he made the one that counted most.

The lucky fan not only drained the half-court shot, taking home a cool $10,000, but he was the first “Knick” to make a bucket.

That’s right, he had the first New York make of the night.

The fan’s luck seemed to have worn off on the team as the Knicks regrouped in the first quarter to be down just one point, 24-23, before exploding in the second with 49 points. They would take home the 126-107 win over the Hawks. Arizona product Allonzo Trier’s chipped in 15 points, four rebounds and a monster dunk in the winning effort.
