Kevin Kolb feeling better, anxious to play

Nov 23, 2011, 10:42 PM | Updated: 10:51 pm

As Kevin Kolb’s turf toe injury continues to improve, the quarterback gets more anxious to be back out on the playing field.

“Today was like Christmas and even Whiz said ‘hey you better settle yourself down,’ because he could tell I was excited,” Kolb said.

Kolb suffered an inury to his toe during the 30-27 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8. He has missed three games since.

“I’m not going to make any judgements on where he is,” Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “He participated in practice and that was a good sign.”

In the three games missed, Kolb saw backup quarterback John Skelton go 2-1, earning twice as many wins as Kolb had in his first seven starts of the season.

Kolb is not letting comparisons to Skelton distract him from his job.

“You can’t get too caught up in that, of course it can be added motivation but I have plenty of motivation,” Kolb said.

Kolb said that he took 35-40 percent of the reps at practice and even participated with the scout team to get him more comfortable before coming back.

“What’s really going to be determined is how his foot responds after Wednesday,” Whisenhunt said. “We’ll see how the soreness is and how he feels tomorrow.”
