Northern Arizona Suns’ Western Night was a real stirrup

The Northern Arizona Suns kicked up quite a dust storm on the internet Saturday wearing rodeo clown-themed uniforms.

The Phoenix Suns G League affiliate, out of Prescott Valley, paid homage to the World’s Oldest Rodeo in nearby Prescott by wearing orange stripped jerseys that had suspenders and a handkerchief sewed into the jersey pattern.

Shorts that resembled blue jeans were also part of the uniform.

“There’s a legend behind Prescott and this entire area that I didn’t really know a lot about and it’s all about the rodeo,” NAZ Suns broadcaster Jon Bloom said.

The uniforms were part of the team’s Western Night, which included a straw cowboy hat giveaway, a post game concert and a come-from-behind win for the Rodeo Clowns.

Retin Obasohan scored the go-ahead and-1 layup with 6.3 seconds left to lift the Rodeo Clowns to the 117-116 win over the Texas Legends.

Forward Peter Jok led the Rodeo Clowns with 24 points on 10-of-16 shooting, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, to go with five rebounds and two steals.
