The University of Arizona found itself in the national spotlight once again this week.
Following last week’s announcement of the University changing its nickname from U of A to UArizona, Saturday Night Live poked fun at the change.
Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost poked fun at the name change.
“Is it just me or does UArizona sound like a punchline to a joke about Arizona stereotypes?” Jost joked. “Like, if you’ve ever gotten a DUI on a golf cart, UArizona.”
UArizona announced last week that they were making the change to increase search engine optimization results for the college.
Following the release, there were no immediate plans to utilize the new abbreviation on college merchandise or in chants at sporting events.
