Angels OF Mike Trout hits one to the moon at Top Golf in Scottsdale

Mar 2, 2020, 11:06 AM

It seems that the protective netting surrounding Top Golf in Scottsdale served little use when Angels outfielder Mike Trout showed up to hit his best drive.

Widely regarded as the best player in baseball, the nine-year MLB veteran has 285 career home runs already, including 45 last year and 39 the year before. He’s led the American League in slugging percentage in three of the last five seasons and already has three MVPs to his name at 28 years old.

Trout also had an average home run distance of 419 feet last year, which was tied for the second-longest in MLB behind only Colorado’s Ian Desmond.

So it makes sense that when he was at Top Golf in Scottsdale, not far from the Angels’ spring training facility in Tempe, his shot off the tee with the driver was way, way outta here.

In a video tweeted by the team, a monitor in the Angels’ hitting bay showed the ball still well above the ground as it approached the back end of the driving range. Those around him were giggling and shouting in disbelief.

Dodgers outfielder Cody Bellinger did something similar.

This was all part of an event put on by the Pujols Foundation, self-described as a non-profit that focuses on faith, family and others.

Then, on Monday, basketball star Charles Barkley was at the Angels’ baseball camp playing golf — a true three-sport medley.
