The Arizona State football team has delayed spring practices for “at least two weeks” due to the coronavirus and has also postponed its NFL Draft pro day event.

The pro day was originally scheduled for Monday.

That news comes down after the NFL prohibited all in-person draft meetings between teams and college prospects until further notice.

Spring break for Arizona State ran from March 7-15, and the Sun Devils had eight more spring practices on the schedule, running from March 17 through March 28. The final practice on Saturday, March 28, was to be televised on Pac-12 Networks.

It’s a key offseason for ASU, which is implementing schemes coached by new coordinators on both sides of the ball this spring.

Former Sun Devil players who are hoping to be selected in the NFL Draft will be impacted as well.

NFL teams are still permitted to conduct interviews with college players over the phone or through video conferences. Each call can last no more than an hour and teams are limited to three calls per individual each week.

Receiver Brandon Aiyuk, running back Eno Benjamin, center Cohl Cabral and punter Michael Turk are among the Sun Devils from the 2019 team who are eligible to be drafted in 2020.

Arizona State announced Thursday via a statement that it has canceled all sport competitions, “effective immediately” and “until further notice.”

“This decision has been made in consultation with other Pac-12 member universities in an effort to limit the spread of the COVID-19 and in the interest of the health and safety of our student-athletes, campus personnel, working and event personnel, and all those who attend Pac-12 events,” the statement read.
