Floyd puts troubles behind, looks toward future

Apr 27, 2012, 9:49 PM | Updated: 11:15 pm

On March 20, 2011, Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd
was pulled over in South Bend, Indiana and arrested on
drunken-driving charges.

The arrest was Floyd’s third alcohol-related incident in
three years.

The talented player was suspended indefinitely by Fighting
Irish head coach Brian Kelly. “While I don’t know when
Michael will be reinstated, it will not happen until
Michael demonstrates he has successfully modified his
behavior and the legal and university disciplinary matters
have run their respective courses,” Kelly said at the
time.

By early-August, Floyd had demonstrated his new behavior
sufficiently enough to be reinstated, and he went on to
enjoy a stellar senior season for Notre Dame, catching a
school record 100
passes.

Floyd’s turnaround continued Thursday, as the Arizona
Cardinals made him the 13th overall pick of the 2012 NFL
Draft to the near-unanimous approval of Redbirds fans
everywhere.
