D-backs providing free tickets to military personnel

May 3, 2011, 10:31 PM | Updated: 11:33 pm

PHOENIX – The Arizona Diamondbacks announced today they will provide complimentary tickets to all active, reserve and retired military members during any of the D-backs’ three games against the Colorado Rockies this week at Chase Field.

The D-backs will host the Rockies at 6:40 p.m. tonight, tomorrow and Thursday.

All military personnel with a valid military identification card may receive two Baseline Reserve tickets when showing identification at any Chase Field ticket office.

“With the recent events in the world, it once again reminds us of the sacrifices our troops make for our country,” said D-backs’ President & CEO Derrick Hall. “We want to show our appreciation to military personnel during the next three days by offering them complimentary tickets to D-backs games at Chase Field. Hopefully all of our fans in the military can take advantage of the offer and enjoy a night at the ballpark with their families.”

The current ticket offer is one of the many initiatives the D-backs have done to honor members of the military.

Beginning in 2010, the D-backs have honored a current member of the military and their family during each home game at Chase Field as part of the club’s Sanderson Ford Seats for Soldiers program. Each military member receives four Home Run Porch tickets and is saluted prior to the game on the ballpark’s HD video scoreboard. The D-backs also donated more than 25,000 tickets last season to active duty military personnel and their families.

D-backs’ Special Assistant to the President & CEO Luis Gonzalez also participated in the unveiling of the club’s logo on the nose of a KG-135 Stratotanker at the 161st Air Refueling Wing of the Arizona National Guard last season. The club’s D-backs Baseball Academy personnel also hosted a free clinic for military families at Mark Grace Thunderbolt Field at Luke Air Force Base prior to Veteran’s Day last year.

The D-backs and FOX Sports Arizona have partnered to host military families and paid homage to our troops overseas during various patriotic-themed broadcasts on Memorial Day and Independence Day since 2007.
