The Arizona Cardinals made waves on social media over the weekend after sending free apparel to a young fan.
The exchange occurred after Sean Higgins, who works as a photojournalist for CBS’ affiliate in Greensboro, N.C., and his wife tweeted photos of the family in the stands.
The photos showed his son, Lincoln, decked out in a Kyler Murray Cardinals jersey. It soon caught the attention of Arizona’s social media team.
Through the team’s Twitter accounts, the social media personnel first tweeted a response to Lincoln.
You’re the best, Lincoln! Thanks for coming to watch and cheer us on. Sorry we couldn’t win for you!

But the team did much more to help their fan in enemy territory, sending free gear to Lincoln and his family.
He received said gear on Tuesday, including a Murray headband and a team beanie, resulting in a happy youngster.
Mom is a @Packers fan. Dad is a @Panthers fan. But Lincoln wanted to be a @AZCardinals and there isn’t much mom or dad can do about it. @WFMY #FirstGame pic.twitter.com/2HY8UxmrFn

The @AZCardinals reached out to me in a private message asking if they could send Lincoln some gear. It arrived today. Here is the video of him opening it. pic.twitter.com/8jS5kxmqeU

Sunday’s contest in Charlotte might not have been a fun one for Murray and his Cardinal teammates, as the Panthers won the ballgame 31-21.
The visitors, however, won over a family’s worth of fans along the way, with Higgins expressing gratitude for the team’s generosity.
“We cannot thank the Cardinals enough,” Higgins’ tweet said.
“You made a special experience that much better and in a year like this when we all need a little good news, they delivered in a big way. He will certainly be a lifelong Cards fan.”
