Arizona Cardinals seventh-round draft pick Eno Benjamin remains waiting for an opportunity to make his NFL debut.
Despite the absence of starting running back Kenyan Drake, Benjamin is among the inactives for a Week 9 game against the Miami Dolphins.
The Cardinals ruled Drake (ankle) and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick (thigh) out for the game at State Farm Stadium on Friday.
Chase Edmonds will take the bulk of the work at running back with veteran D.J. Foster and undrafted rookie Jonathan Ward backing him up. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury alluded to that pecking order Friday when he mentioned those two backups taking on more responsibilities.
He did not mention Benjamin, who has spent gamedays on the inactive list.
Against Miami, Arizona quarterback Brett Hundley, receiver KeeSean Johnson and offensive tackle Josh Miles joined Benjamin as healthy scratches.
Defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (hamstring) and special teamer and linebacker Zeke Turner (toe) were listed as questionable to play but are suiting up.
With safety Jalen Thompson back after the bye week, Arizona received more good news Saturday.
They activated tight end Maxx Williams (ankle) and moved Foster and cornerback Jace Whittaker from the practice squad to the active roster as COVID-19 replacement players. Outside linebacker Devon Kennard and nickel Byron Murphy were placed on COVID-19 reserve earlier in the week.
Defensive lineman Michael Dogbe was also elevated as a standard transaction.
The Dolphins have three inactives against the Cardinals: running back Matt Breida, cornerback Jamal Perry and offensive tackle Adam Pankey.
