ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS

ESPN insider: Don’t give up on D-backs yet

May 30, 2012, 6:35 PM | Updated: 7:56 pm

The Arizona Diamondbacks are not playing well and face
what
appears to be an insurmountable deficit in the NL West.

Still, it would be too early to give up on them.

“There’s still plenty of time,” ESPN MLB insider Tim Kurkjian told
Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo
Wednesday.

There are still more than 100 games left in the season,
and
until they are mathematically eliminated one could always
say “there’s a chance.” However, the D-backs have shown
very little to make one think they are about to get going.

“With so may playoff spots still open, to give up after 50
games and say ‘this season’s done’ it’s just too early,”
he said. “Now if it were 100 games, maybe you have a
situation, but not at 50 games.”

That’s not to say the D-backs have not been disappointing
thus far. Really, anyone who would argue differently
should be committed to a mental institution.

But no matter how tired you may be of hearing it, the
truth is there is still time for the D-backs to
turn things around. Whether they will or not, who knows,
but for now the hope is they can fix whatever their
problems are.

Because if they don’t, sooner or later they will
run out of time.
