Levi Brown comments on Penn State scandal

Jul 26, 2012, 5:09 PM | Updated: 6:16 pm

Needless to say, the Penn State/Jerry Sandusky child sexual abuse
scandal has affected thousands of people. First and foremost, the
victims and their families.

But the entire Penn State community — fans, current players,
alumni and former players — are also dealing with the harsh
penalty that was handed down by NCAA president Mark Emmert last
week.

One former Nittany Lion who is dealing with the aftermath is
Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Levi Brown, who wore the blue
and white of Penn State from 2002 to 2006.

“It’s been pretty difficult,” Brown said following Thursday morning’s
team walk-through in Flagstaff. “What happened here was a huge
tragedy for the victims involved in this situation and I feel that
whatever needs to be done to try to make it right by them needs to
be done.”

By the time Brown got to State College, Sandusky had already
retired as the Nittany Lions’ defensive coordinator. But of course
Joe Paterno, the man who recruited Brown to Penn State, remained
until his firing last fall.

“Certain aspects of it (have),” Brown responded when asked about
whether Paterno’s legacy has been tarnished. “But there was also a
lot of good that he’s done and I feel like those things will always be
remembered and never be forgotten.”
