The year 2021 will likely not have many similarities shared in college football between Arizona State and Arizona.
The Sun Devils’ over-under for a win total is set at 9, while the Wildcats are at 2.5, per SportsBetting.ag.
ASU is one of the favorites to win the Pac-12 South Division this season, with quarterback Jayden Daniels and the formidable one-two punch in the backfield of Rachaad White and Chip Trayanum returning to lead the offense. On the defensive side of the football, the Sun Devils will bring back 11 starters from last year’s team.
It’ll be Year 4 of Herm Edwards’ tenure as head coach after a 17-13 record through three seasons.
Arizona enters a new era under new head coach Jedd Fisch after Kevin Sumlin was fired in December. Over the pandemic-shortened season, the Wildcats went 0-5, and Sumlin had a 9-20 record in his three years as head coach.
While there is certainly for Arizona State at quarterback with a clear-cut starter in Daniels, Arizona is still figuring out its starter. Transfers Gunner Cruz and Jordan McCloud are in the mix, plus returnee Will Plummer.
The Sun Devils begin the season on Sept. 2 hosting Southern Utah while the Wildcats start Sept. 4 against BYU.
