Pittsburgh Pirates Double-A affiliate will don special Mister Rogers sweater jerseys

When it comes to innovate ways to market a team, minor league baseball organizations have that move down pat. Whether it’s a colorful character throwing out the first pitch, a crazy food concoction made available at the concessions or an utterly ridiculous themed night at the ballpark, few can top the extracurricular activities that take place at your local minor league baseball stadium.
Take for instance the unique jersey idea to be implemented by the Altoona Curve later this summer.
On July 5 for their game against the Harrisburg Senators, players and coaches for the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates will don special sweater jerseys paying tribute to Mister Rogers.

The jerseys are part of a special promotion hosted by the Curve called “A Night in the Neighborhood”, which will also feature an appearance from Daniel Tiger, the star of the children’s animated television series Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
Following the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off, with proceeds being donated to charity.
