Arizona Diamondbacks prospect Alek Thomas was named to the 2021 MLB Futures Game on Wednesday.

The outfielder is the only D-backs prospect to represent the team at the Futures Game. This will be Thomas’ second time making the Futures roster, having played in 2019.

In 40 games with the Double-A Amarillo Sod Poodles, Thomas is hitting .284 to go along with an .854 OPS. He’s recorded 23 RBIs, five home runs, four stolen bases and walks, while striking out 40 times.

He has also flashed his abilities on the defensive end.

Thomas is 62nd among MLB prospects and fourth in Arizona’s farm system, according to MLB Pipeline. Corbin Carroll is the highest ranked D-backs prospect at No. 33.

Thomas isn’t the only player headed to the Futures Game with ties to Arizona.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ Andre Jackson (Vail), the Colorado Rockies’ Michael Toglia (Phoenix), the Chicago Cubs’ Brennen Davis (Chandler), the Oakland Athletics’ Tyler Soderstrom (Phoenix) and the St. Louis Cardinals’ Matthew Liberatore (Peoria) and Nolan Gorman (Phoenix) all hail from Arizona.
