No. 19 Arizona State football will face its toughest test of the young season on Saturday night, going on the road against No. 23 BYU.
The Sun Devils are favored for the third-straight week, but the line is significantly closer this time.
ASU is a 3.5-point favorite in Provo, Utah, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. It was favored by no fewer than 30 points in the first two weeks, but both games resulted in the underdogs covering.
ASU is -114 to cover the spread this week while the Cougars have -106 odds. The moneyline for the Sun Devils is -188 compared to BYU’s +152.
BYU has won 10-straight home games, including last week against Utah. Plus, the Cougars are 5-1 in their last six games against the spread as underdogs.
The point total over/under is set at 51.5 on FanDuel. Of the four games combined that ASU and BYU played so far, only one surpassed that mark: Arizona State’s Week 1 41-14 victory over Southern Utah.
The point total has gone under in six of ASU’s last eight games, per OddsShark. It went under in each of BYU’s last five outings.
There is no recent matchup history between these two schools. ASU is 20-7 all-time against the Cougars, but the last battle between the two was back in 1998. Sun Devils quarterback Jayden Daniels wasn’t even born yet.
The weather will be much cooler in Provo than Tempe, with the game-time temperature set to be in the high-60s Fahrenheit with 11 mile-per-hour winds.
