Mercury’s Brittney Griner, Skylar Diggins-Smith make First Team All-WNBA

Phoenix Mercury center Brittney Griner and guard Skylar Diggins-Smith respectively made their sixth and fifth All-WNBA teams, it was announced Friday.
Both are All-WNBA First Team for 2021. They are joined on the squad by league MVP Jonquel Jones of the Connecticut Sun, plus the Seattle Storm’s Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd.
Griner previously made All-WNBA First Team in 2014 and 2019.
She was the runner-up for the MVP award this season and averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 blocks per game during the regular season. She was second in the league by shooting 57.5% from the field.

Diggins-Smith is honored on the All-WNBA team for the first time as a member of the Mercury. She previously made All-WNBA First Team in 2014 and 2017.
Diggins-Smith averaged 17.7 points and 5.3 assists per game this year.
Griner, Diggins-Smith and the Mercury face the Chicago Sky for Game 3 of the WNBA Finals at 6 p.m. Friday.
