Former Arizona Cardinal Kurt Warner’s new biopic “American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story” was released in theaters on Friday and the quarterback expressed his excitement for the film that is bigger than just football.
Warner explained on Arizona Sports’ Bickley & Marotta Show that he was nervous to finally tell his life story for the world to see, but was proud of the product.
“I think it is a movie that will speak to the football fans, and they will get what they want and expect, but it is much bigger than that,” Warner said.
“It is about relationships, it’s about growing, it’s about the process we go through to become the people that we are.”
Warner said he was finally comfortable sharing his story and was happy with where the movie ended up to depict his life story on and off the field.
He recognized that movies are subjective and everyone may not love his film but in the bigger picture, he wants it to resonate with as many people as possible.
“To actually get to this point, you actually have the movie out there and were excited to share it with people,” Warner said. “It is fun to actually get the story out there and see how it is connecting with people.”
The biopic was directed by Jon and Andrew Erwin, who chose actors Zachary Levi to play Kurt Warner and Anna Paquin to portray Brenda Warner.
