Arizona Wildcats PG Kerr Kriisa a game-time decision vs. Wright State

Injured Arizona Wildcats point guard Kerr Kriisa is a game-time decision for the team’s first-round matchup in the NCAA Tournament against Wright State, head coach Tommy Lloyd told reporters Thursday.

Kriisa injured his ankle in Arizona’s Pac-12 Tournament opener on Thursday.

“I’m going to give you guys the standard it’s to be a game-time decision, but that 100% comes from the heart. It’s true,” Lloyd said. “We’ll see, he’s made great progress. I’m sure he’ll be bouncing around out there today. Our goal was to push it to see how close we could get him to playing.

“I think he’s close and we’ll see tomorrow what it looks like. There could be a deal where he may play and not start. We’ll just kind of take it from there and see where he’s at.”

After Lloyd’s press conference, Kriisa was seen getting some shots up with the rest of the team.

The sophomore is averaging 10.1 points and 4.9 assists per game while shooting at a 35% clip from three-point range. He takes 7.1 of his 8.7 attempts per game from deep.

Justin Kier replaced Kriisa in the starting lineup as the Wildcats rolled past Colorado and UCLA to win the conference tournament title, while starter Dalen Terry took on a larger role without the point guard.

Arizona and Wright State tip off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
