There are more than a few question marks surrounding the upcoming season for the Arizona State Sun Devils and head coach Herm Edwards.

The spring game took place on Saturday and fans got to see the first glimpse at not just the team as a whole, but specifically the quarterback, offensive line and cornerback groups for the upcoming season.

With the departure of cornerbacks Jack Jones and Chase Lucas, the position might be one of the biggest areas of need for the Sun Devils.

“We have a lot of talent and we are probably bringing in two more guys,” Edwards told reporters after the game. “We got seven or eight scholarships left and there are some guys we are going to bring in here that are ready to come.”

“It is a position we have a lot of talent, not a lot of experience perse, but I like our talent.”

Lucas broke the Arizona State record for most ever career starts in the maroon and gold.

Timarcus Davis and Keon Markham started on Saturday and are in line to be the two successors for the job.

The offensive line lost two players who entered the NFL Draft in Kellen Diesch and Donovan West but still projects to have a strong unit next season.

“I think we have a veteran group and we are not done yet,” Edwards said. “We’re going to add guys to the roster. That’s just how it works.”

The line consists of two graduate transfers (Chris Martinez and Des Holmes), two seniors (LaDarius Henderson and Emmitt Bohle) and one junior (Ben Scott).

Who they will block for in pass protection is also still an unanswered question after quarterback Jayden Daniels transferred to LSU.

Trenton Bourguet and transfer Paul Tyson split reps under center with the first-team offense while Daylin McLemore got time as second-team quarterback.

“It’s competition in that room, well see how it goes,” Edwards said. “You know how I am, you compete around here and then you make decisions.”
