The Arizona Cardinals hosted UConn offensive tackle Ryan Van Demark for a visit this week, reports NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Pelissero adds that Van Demark also met with Los Angeles Chargers and Indianapolis Colts this week and has the Kansas City Chiefs up next.
The news of the visit comes after Arizona hosted a local pro day on Thursday. The team is also expected to host Coastal Carolina tight end Isaiah Likely for a visit next week.
Over his four seasons at UConn, Van Demark started 43 of his 46 games played.
Van Demark is expected to go in the later rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft, with The Athletic’s Dane Brugler projecting the lineman to land with the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of his seven-round mock draft released Thursday.
The 6-foot-6, 307-pound lineman did not receive an invite to the 2022 NFL Combine but put up impressive numbers at UConn’s pro day, highlighted by 24 bench press reps and a 30.5-inch vertical.
Van Demark’s ability to swing to either the left or right tackle is another bonus for the prosect.
While Arizona has numerous team needs on the defensive side of the ball, adding a young offensive lineman to the team wouldn’t be terrible, especially with quarterback Kyler Murray looking for a new contract extension.
There’s also the fact that Arizona only has Josh Jones as the only tackle under contract through 2023. Starting tackles D.J. Humphries and Kelvin Beachum, along with Joshua Miles and Justin Murray, are free agents after 2022.
